Environmental Audits

Pre-Purchase Audits

In the process of purchasing wells, pipelines, or facilities, a pre-purchase audit benefits our upstream clients and their financial backers by providing a dependable report of possible site contamination. We advise our clients as to the potential degree of contamination and a dollar estimate of the contamination liability.

  • Some of the references we’ll examine are:
  • Vendor files;
  • Regulatory Agency files;
  • Abandonment or closure order files;
  • Reclamation Status;

We visit each site that is part of the purchase transaction and interview personnel who know the site history. On occasion we will use Electro Magnetic Surveys as an investigative tool, when we have strong indications of probable contamination. Following a detailed investigation, we provide our clients with a comprehensive report.

Compliance Audits

A compliance audit is commissioned by a company’s own management to determine the degree to which the company is meeting the requirements of environmental regulations. Such an audit is an important factor in establishing Due Diligence. Following a Compliance Audit, Ark advises our clients on actions to take to comply with environmental laws and regulations.

  • Some typical issues that occur on oil and gas sites are:
  • Flare pits not meeting current regulatory requirements;
  • Pipeline right of ways with no inspection records;
  • Inactive wells not inspected as required;
  • Weeds out of control on sites, access roads and pipeline ROW’s;
  • Contamination of soil, groundwater;
  • Emissions to air.
